Something that really bugs me: When people apologize for something they don’t need to apologize for. Why even apologize? You don’t apologize to yourself in the mirror after you have eaten the whole bag of potato chips, do you? You don’t apologize because at that time, eating those chips was what you really wanted to do. You were enjoying yourself, they were tasty &&& it is pretty hard to just have one. I’m even guilty of apologizing when I don’t really need to. I usually apologize for the gaps of time between blogs and the gaps of time between music releases, but those days are done. Time is precious. That goes without saying. What you do with your time is your prerogative. You can be adventurous, you can learn, you can create, you can fall in love, you can hate, you can even do NOTHING. But why ever be sorry for consciously doing what you want? I have mentioned this in prior posts, but in the last year of my life I have sure learned a ton about myself and those around me. Being more conscious of your surroundings and being honest with yourself are two of the best things you can do in my opinion. Just know, every decision you make has a consequence – good or bad. For instance, me not posting on here/not putting out music may hurt my brand – I’m aware of that. I’m not going to act surprised when my plays per day go down, I’m not going to be surprised when my website gets less traffic. When you consciously choose to do something/nothing, there will always be people that don’t agree with that action, DON’T feel obligated to apologize. Just don’t complain when you don’t get the results you want.
I often find myself going through spurts of creativity with music. Sometimes it’s dark, sometimes it’s happy, sometimes it’s party music, sometimes I can’t think of ANYTHING! This makes me quite angry with myself at times. I create pressure within myself to make this music for what…? For who…? You..?…. No. I ultimately create this music for myself. Maybe I end up relating to you? Great! I enjoy connecting with people, it feels good to be relatable. I like being a role model of some sorts. At the end of the day I really make this music so I can go back to that certain place and be reminded of why I do/don’t want to be in that place/state of mind. Music is such a beautiful medium for me, but it is not something that I can just force. All my music is sincere, all my music truly depicts how I feel or how I have felt at some point in time.
Here’s my 2 cents: Find your avenue, make some REAL friends who will support you and pursue your dreams & do the same for them! Don’t be sorry for breaks – everyone needs them. —BUT — Don’t expect progression when you’re not actively working on your craft, that’s just blasphemy. Feeling sorry for yourself doesn’t get you far in this world. If you need to say sorry for an action and your regret is sincere, do say sorry. Don’t be an asshole for no reason, then use sorry as a scapegoat once you realize you’re in trouble for those disrespectful actions.
Please don’t misconstrue these words. Use everything moderation. Even the word sorry – it loses it sincerity with overuse.
